The brief

DASC is an association of the Central African diaspora that works on social, educational and community development back home. It needed one place to explain what it does, share its news, and turn visitors into donors, volunteers and partners. After launch, the association had to be able to run the site without me.

What I delivered

  • The association's story: who it is, its fields of action and its projects, each with its own page
  • News and a media library that the team publishes itself
  • Online donations by card
  • Volunteer and partner applications, and a contact form that accepts attachments
  • A search across the whole site

How I approached it

Almost everything a visitor reads can be edited by the association, from the home page to the list of partners. If the content service is ever unreachable, the site falls back to a built-in version of the same pages instead of showing empty blocks.

Each form lands in the association's inbox, and each donation goes through a secure card checkout hosted by the payment provider, so the site never handles card details.

Lessons

Card donations suit the diaspora abroad well. Supporters inside the Central African Republic mostly pay with mobile money, and that is the next thing the site needs if the association wants to raise money at home as well.
